Las Vegas is the last of the major accessible cities in the Facebook game Mafia Wars. Despite being the last city to be introduced, it is accessible before any other Mafia Wars city other than New York. You can first access Las Vegas when your character reaches level 18. Nearly every standard feature of the game is more complicated in Las Vegas than in every other city. This guide will help you navigate through the complexities of Las Vegas in order to better enjoy the content.
Vault – Unlike every other city in the game, you do not have a bank in Las Vegas. Instead of a bank, you have a vault. The advantage of the vault is that you do not lose 10% of your money when you deposit in the vault. The disadvantage of the vault is that it can only hold a limited amount of money. When you first reach Las Vegas your vault can only hold 100,000 chips. To increase the capacity of your vault you must upgrade. Upgrading your vault requires obtaining specific items. These items can be obtained as loot from any Las Vegas job.
Jobs – Job tiers in Las Vegas are unlike those in any other city. Each job tier has 2-3 paths that you can take perform the jobs. In order to perform a job, you must master the immediately previous job in that path. Due to the way the paths are designed, it is possible to open a job on one path, but not on another. The three possible paths are the fight path, social path, and energy path. In general, you fight with stamina on the fight path, complete jobs with energy on the energy path, and request aid from your friends on the social path. Once you master every job on every path you master the tier and unlock the next tier. Also, just like in Bangkok, each tier has four masteries rather than three and once you master a tier, the energy and equipment requirements increase, as do the rewards.
Tournaments – The fighting tab of Las Vegas has an option not available in any other city. In Las Vegas you can participate in tournaments. In a tournament, your fighting skill is based on the combined value of your attack and defense scores, rather than just one or the other and your health value doesn’t matter. In addition, in tournaments, you are paired off against a series of opponents based on a pre-set bracket. Before the tournament starts, you can see the odds for winning and you can make bets on the winner of the tournament. Tournaments provide experience, money, victory coins, and loot to the winner.
My Casino – There is no properties tab in Las Vegas. Instead there is a “My Casino” tab. In order to build up your casino, you must complete specific jobs in Las Vegas job tiers. This will unlock each of the casino buildings. Like properties, these buildings provide set income at a specific rate of time. They can each be upgraded as many as 9 times. Each upgrade increases the rating of the building by half a star, to a maximum of a 5 star rating. Each upgrade also provides increased income from the building. Unlike properties, you can not upgrade these buildings with money. Instead you need to earn a specific set of loot items that can be obtained from any Las Vegas job.
Collections – Las Vegas collections are unique because you do not need to collect the loot for the collections in a specific tier. Las Vegas collection items can potentially be earned in any job tier.
Achievements – Las Vegas has 18 achievements, which is more than any other individual city. In order to earn these achievements you need to build and upgrade your casino, fight and win in tournaments, fight, rob, perform jobs, purchase specific equipment, gamble in tournaments, and convince your friends to play on your slot machine.
