One of the coolest things about being a crafter is that you always have exactly what you need to get over most anything that ails you. Whether you’re sad, bored, alone or just antsy, all you have to do is go to your craft supplies, and pick out some things to start a new project. In a few minutes, you’ll forget all about what’s bugging you, and be well on your way to owning something new and spectacular!
If you love decorating with artificial plants and flowers you can make a unique planter from paper! Use a paper cone, made for adding fluids to vehicles, or create your own cone shape with your choice of papers. The paper you choose should be rather thick. Scrapbook papers give you a huge choice for the cone theme. The metallic types create an elegant planter but you can use most any type of thick paper.
If you’re using a paper cone you can simply paint it. If you’re using scrapbook or other paper fold it into a cone shape then tape to secure. Trim around the top so that it’s completely even. You can do many things to make the cone look even more unique. Glue fake jewels onto it, a small, wrought iron piece, a flat, wooden shape, or just attach a tassel to the point of the cone. There are many different designs you can do.
You’ll need a metal ring to begin assembling the planter. You can purchase brass rings or other metal rings at any craft store. In addition to the ring you’ll need a piece of wide ribbon. Fold the end of the ribbon over the ring and glue it. Allow the length of ribbon to hang down. Use double-sided tape or glue to attach the cone to the ribbon.
Although you can hang just one cone the finished planter looks much nicer if you hang three or more. Leave spaces between the cones to make room for the flowers or plants. Add the particular floral pieces that you want; allow some to spill out and over the sides of the cones for a gorgeous look.
The planters can be hung on any wall by using the ring to hang them but they look especially nice when they’re hanging in a corner. They’re cheap, unique and simply beautiful!
