Harry Potter Minimal Mania around Reno, Nevada

by bogbit

Reno did its share of contributing towards the $61.2 million dollars ‘Deathly Hallows’ raked in the first day of showing. Trailers and previews have been rampant across the web and in theaters for months. I have been reading the series again, and catching the older movies as they air on television. I’ve done this, however, for each film. Usually, there are events planned around town to celebrate another Harry Potter film release. What happened in Reno, NV?

Barnes & Noble and Borders hold a big bash when Harry Potter books are released, but did not overtly take advantage of the opportunity to sell the series in advance of the movie’s release. The local reviews concentrated on the premieres held in London and New York City. The biggest Harry Potter fan I know is learning to be a chef, and sensibly is applying her time to acing culinary requirements.

I talked with Mary O’Malley in Reno, who said she has been watching the trailers on YouTube, and reading various reviews about ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.’ She plans on seeing the movie Sunday or Monday, since the lines will be shorter. Some of her friends are out of town, and she anticipates seeing it again when they return.

One business in Reno is making good on the movie’s release, just in time for Christmas shopping. Hot Topic (775- 448-9931), located at 5415 Meadowood Mall Circle in the Meadowood Mall, is carrying all-new, exclusive Harry Potter wearing apparel and accessories. Hot Topic, a retail partner with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, has junior and young men’s and women’s polo and tie combination tees, in the style of Gryffindor and Slytherin, and accessories such as bags, jewelry, and key chains. Many posters are available, and Harry Potter stationery. It is the best place in town to shop for your unique gifts targeted towards the Potter fans on your list.

As a special treat to its ‘Deathly Hallows’ fans, Hot Topic has an in-store mobile application giving customers an opportunity to earn up to five different digital badges when solving challenges through their iPhone and Android mobile devices.

This is even better than a one-night premiere. After the movie, fans can head to the mall for souvenirs.
