This is going to be a good old fashioned rant. I just read an article about Bill Nye the science guy and how he either tripped on stage or fainted and was out for a few seconds. He came around and was disoriented for a few moments. The article was a little unclear on whether he went on to finish his speech or not, but the point of it was that in a room full of college students, not one of these idiots got out of their seats to see if the man was ok or not. No, these future leaders in our pretty much doomed world all sat on their asses and pulled out their phones and started tweeting and/or texting about what was happening in the room. The man could have been dying up there and these morons were doing nothing but making sure everyone in their ever important social circles knew just what was going on.
Not one of them showed any empathy or concern about a fellow human being and that just scares me in a way that is very hard to describe. We have managed to raise a whole generation of, and I use the term very loosely, people who are so out of touch with reality that when they see a fellow human being in distress it does nothing to them. NOTHING. And these are going to be our next group of Lawyers, CEO’s, Doctor’s, or even a future President? God help us all!
Spending day after day with their faces pressed into whatever phone or online thing they feel they need to be in “touch” with the rest of their peers has produced a generation of emotional zombies. They don’t care about their fellow man other than as a form of entertainment for them. If they can tweet about it, or send a viral video about it, then that is all they care about.
Another horrible thing that was mentioned in the same article was the murder of an up and coming comedian in New Orleans not very long ago. He was shot and people were standing around and just watched this man die. Oh, they took pictures and sent them all over the web, so we know exactly what he looked like as he lay there dying in a pool of his own blood, but not a one of these genius’s did a thing to try to help him. They were too busy tweeting and texting the whole thing to all their thousands of Facebook friends.
Selfish, emotional zombies that will soon be running our country. Anyone else feel that little tickle of fear at the nape of your neck like I did when I read that article? Rome fell. America is teetering.
