Music is my passion in life. I play drums, guitar, and piano, but what I love most is concerts. I have seen every band or musician live in concert that I have had a desire to see. I don’t go to concerts for the same reason many people go, to get wasted, or party. I go to concerts to watch professional musicians put on a million-dollar show. Of all the concerts I have been to none stand out more than my first concert to see The Who. They put on the concert you would dream of. With fireworks exploding, backdrops changing, and Pete Townsend doing a ten second guitar windmill, The Who put on the best two hour performance I have ever seen. Only to be tied with Motley Crue for the best concert I have ever attended. Though I have seen Motley Crue twice, the first time was the most memorable. On the first CrueFest tour, bands like Sixx AM (Nikki Sixx’s side band), Papa Roach, and Buckcherry opened up for Crue. As the rain began to fall in Chicago, the lights shut off all that was heard was an explosive roar of the crowd.
The first sign of life was giant fireworks shooting from the stage, where Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, and Nikki Sixx began playing their hit song, Wild Side. This intensity lasted throughout the concert, with Tommy Lee’s famous “Titty-Cam,” and “Jagar Pass.” As well as CrueFest, I have been to OzzFest. I attended to festival to see Black Label Society, but Ozzy Osbourne put on quiet a show, with a giant water hose, he sprayed the first forty rows with water. Black Label Society put on an amazing show as always, as well as their opener, Clutch, playing their hit single, “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor.”
During Ozzfest I was lucky to see bands like DevilDriver, Nonpoint, and Halford (Rob Halford from Judas Priest). I love tours, and one of my favorites is Warped Tour. My first time attending I saw bands like, Alkaline Trio, Underoath, New Found Glory, Pepper, Mayday Parade, Coheed & Cambria, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Hawethorne Heights, Paramore, Chiodos, and Killswitch Engage. As well as tours and festivals, I love solo shows. I have seen Taylor Hicks, and American Idol winner, with opener Michael Warren, a great acoustic show. One of my favorite concerts was James Blunt, and opener Sara Bareilles, with her hit single, “Lovesong.”
I have seen Chiodos, more than any other band, at four times, which will be my last, as Chiodos had split in early 2010, and reformed with a new lead singer, and drummer…my favorite two parts of the band. While at Chiodos concerts I have come along song great bands, like Powerspace, Hit the Lights, Matchbook Romance, Amber Pacific, and The Early November. There are plenty of bands on the list that I still wish to see, and sadly, some that I will never see. Bands like Pink Floyd, or Led Zepplin. As you can see, I love concerts. So if you think you have a better track record than me, I want to hear about it.
