Welcome back Hellcats fans. This episode was about Marti’s conscience, Alice’s teamwork and a look at Lewis’s life.
The show opened up with a music video portion of the Hellcats gyrating around the gym. But the tall gals of the volleyball squad showed up and got into it with the cats because they needed the gym to practice a “real sport.” They threw a ball at Alice when she was doing a lift. Annoyed because the volleyball squad claimed the cheer squad weren’t real athletes plus the university pulling the cheer squad’s funding for the volleyball squad Alice proposed a flag football showdown. She wanted the captain Savannah to back her up. Marti willed Savannah with her shaking blond curls and frosted lip sticked mouth to not do it, but Savannah said yes. Lewis would be coaching them because boys wouldn’t be allowed to compete. Alice bumped into her new football/steroid provider boyfriend Jake and found out he would be coaching the volleyball gals. She didn’t like this but he didn’t take it seriously so didn’t care. In a fit of inspiration Alice decided to seduce him so she could steal his coaching plans. At the game Lewis told her they wouldn’t use the stolen plans and Savannah agreed. S told Alice she needed her to back her up and Alice did.
Meanwhile Marti’s law school prof Julian told the class they had to go with him on Saturday to a three-strikes repeal lobbying party so they could smooze and get internships. Marti was conflicted because she had the Hellcats vs. volleyball squad flag football game. Her friend Morgan from class told her she needed to prioritize and that she needed to focus on her career not cheerleading. So Marti decided to fake being sick to Savannah in order to get out of the game. Savannah bought it but then caught Marti when she was packing for the weekend. But S didn’t rat her out to the other players so Marti was grateful.
Meanwhile Lewis went home to drop off some laundry. Finally there was some confirmation that these kids are in college. But his dad was home and he wondered why. Also he picked up the mail on the way in and there was an envelope stuffed with cash. Instead of jumping up for joy Lewis was pissed. It turned out that the reason he stopped being a football player was because he was being bribed with envelopes of cash and he didn’t like it so his dad told him to quit. So Lewis ran over to coach Red Raymond to demand what was going on. Red didn’t know so they went to the athletic head. He told Lewis that he should be asking his dad about the money. So Lewis went back home to confront his dad. Turned out dad’s hours got cut at work and couldn’t pay the mortgage because the loan terms were changed so he was forced to accept the cash.
At the flag football game the Hellcats were getting creamed by the volleyball gals. Savannah couldn’t catch the ball even though Alice threw it right at her. Then Marti showed up and they instantly got two touchdowns. Then with less than 10 seconds to go Lewis told Alice to throw the ball at Savannah so she could score. S said that was a terrible idea because she couldn’t catch the ball, but L assured her she would be wide open and she could do it. So Alice threw the ball and S caught it and started dancing around but everyone reminded her she still needed to run over the line with it. Luckily she just needed to take one step to score. The cats won and everyone cheered except the unlucky volleyball gals. Alice chatted with Jake and he told her that he planted those plays and wondered why they didn’t use them.
Red stopped by the game and told Lewis he did a great job and that his dad wouldn’t be accepting any more money. Lewis now had to get a job so as he was looking for one in a paper Marti stopped by to chat with him and he revealed his troubles. She touched his hand and they made out. Yes! In a fit of inspiration Lewis stopped by Red’s office and after discussing some football plays he pitched himself to view the tapes for Red. Red accepted and Lewis now has a job.
Meanwhile Red spied on Vanessa practicing and they talked about the football team’s pay-off of players. Vanessa told him he needed to be around people he can trust and that he can trust her. But ahem just as friends remember because V loves Derrick. Plus the lighting was bad on this scene and they made Red’s eyes bug-out and not attractive.
The volleyball team performed self-degrading and Hellcats-loving cheers in their underwear as punishment for losing the football game. The cats were having a good time taping this until Vanessa showed up and tells them that they placed 16 in their bid video. The nationals only accepted 1-15…
