Welcome back Hellcats fans. This episode was about Alice trying to win back her role as Hellcats captain and Red stirring the pot with Vanessa’s boyfriend doctor Derrick.
Marti wakes up to stumble over Dan sleeping on the floor in her and Savannah’s room. They stayed up late watching old movies and S let him crash there. Marti says they need to establish rules and boundaries in this menage-a-trois. At breakfast Savannah is watching Memphis Christian’s bid video and tells Dan it’s a bit boring. Dan gives Savannah pointers on how to make it more interesting. Since Savannah is captain she decides to make the video outside of the gym under a highway overpass. The team isn’t that enthusiastic about it and don’t smile and get injured. Dan doesn’t get all the video he needs and the video is crap. Alice decides to stage a coup and wants to re-vote the captainship in a no-confidence vote rule in the Hellcats rulebook. Before the vote though the Hellcats decide to re-shoot their video in the gym and fly the video to where it needs to go. This works out great and Savannah takes charge. The squad still has their no-confidence bid after this but Savannah gets the most votes and still is captain much to Alice’s annoyance.
Doctor BF Derrick and Vanessa are in their local hangout “The Rat” bar and spot Red over at the bar by himself. Derrick tells V that they should be friendly to him and invite him to join them. Vanessa doesn’t think it’s a good idea but Dr. BF gets up before she can stop him. Red finds out that Dr. BF knows about their history. But then Red tells Dr. BF that the thing that he doesn’t know is that Red is going to win Vanessa back. Dr. BF hits Red in the jaw then he and V walk out of the bar. Vanessa is seriously pissed because his job is now in jeopardy and his fate lies in Red’s hands. Later on a university big wig tells Derrick that he’s being promoted to doctor of all the teams and Red was the one who recommended him. Derrick says he’ll think about it. He claims he’ll talk it over with Vanessa later but accepts it without consulting her.
Meanwhile Marti and her law school pal are assigned to get some signatures from a prisoner to help their professor Julian get the three-strikes law repealed. The prisoner tells them that he’s innocent but fit the right profile of a robber so got locked up for no reason. He also says that when he got picked up the cops kicked his guitar. Marti confronts Julian about helping the prisoner and he says it’s about something larger than one person. Marti decides to help the prisoner herself and brings him a guitar to play. In the visiting room we are once again entreated to Marti’s singing, this time in harmony with the prisoner.
