Henderson Beach State Park is located on the Florida panhandle in the town of Destin. This area of Florida’s Gulf of Mexico coast is well known for its white sugar sand beaches and its crystal clear emerald green waters. This park is for everyone. Designated as a family orientated beach, it is ADA accessible and kid friendly. So whether you’re young or old, you’re sure to enjoy this fantastic Florida state park.
Boardwalks provide access to the beach from several locations in the park. Even an all terrain wheelchair is available for use, enabling everyone to enjoy this [pristine Florida Gulf of Mexico beach. A covered pavilion near the beach offers a shady spot for those who still want to enjoy the ocean view without getting overwhelmed by the sun and heat.
Two huge covered pavilions located near the beach access point provide a shelter for picnicking, with two barbecue stations set up for the ultimate in beach picnicking. Reservations can be made to rent the pavilions for family gatherings and weddings, but only during the fall and winter months as the parks first come first serve rule is in effect during the busiest months.
A full facility, 60 site campground is located in the secondary dune system further inland from the beach that can accommodate RV’s and/or tents. A mix of back in and pull through sites are set up so many different types of RV’s can set up. However, a maximum of 45 feet for RV’s is set.
Sites have water, electricity, picnic tables, ground grills and clothesline posts as well as access to a heated and air conditioned restroom with showers, coin operated laundry services and vending machines, so your sure to be well taken care of when your roughing it at Henderson Beach State Park.
Hiking trails meander in and around the campground and beach area. This kid friendly hiking trail features interpretative exhibits, over ancient (but still growing) sand dunes and ending (or beginning) at a state of the art playground, sure to help any tot have the time of their life.
