I’ve spent a lot of time through the years buying holiday gifts. I’ve learned a few techniques that I will pass along. Here are my best holiday shopping bargain tips that I will share with you.
I think, it is important to decide early on what gifts you want to purchase or make for people on your Christmas list. Developing a plan will make your life easier, and give you the opportunity to shop for holiday bargains, and research the best prices for gifts you buy.
One thing you can do is give gifts of items that you make yourself. You can bake, make homemade crafts, and offer your services. Everyone loves baked goods, especially ones that are homemade. Make holiday ornaments for family members. One year my son and his wife gave my husband and I travel mugs with pictures of family members. I saw some of these mugs at the Dollar Tree for a dollar. Then all you need to do is make sure you have ink for your printer. This is a much appreciated gift. You can also offer to clean a car or a house. This doesn’t cost you anything, but will be something anyone would love.
You still will need to shop for those things on your list that you can’t make. One of the best places to shop for bargains is online. I have purchased anything from big screen TVs to pajamas. You can save on gasoline, time, and money when you shop online.
Look for coupons that will save you extra money on your online purchases.
I have found that Amazon is one of the most reliable places to shop, and many times the cheapest.
My Mother-in-law was a master at shopping for holiday bargains. She would watch for major department stores that offer sales, and on top of the sale give you gift cards if you purchase a certain amount. After the holidays she would then take her gift card back to the store and buy holiday items that were at least 75% off.
She would also take advantage of special sales that stores have. Like specials during early bird hours. I remember many times she would be waiting at the stores at 6:00 AM to be the first person in line to get the bargains. She also loved to shop the day after Christmas. You have to get up early to get the best things. It’s not unusual for her to be up and out by 5:00 AM.
I’m not that dedicated to get up at that time, and get out into the cold cruel world. I prefer to do my shopping on the internet. Sitting in my pajamas, with a cup of coffee, in the comfort of my home, and having my purchases delivered directly to my door.
Just remember if you shop online, take advantage of store sales and gif cards, use coupons, make some of your own gifts, and shop early, you will save a lot of money. My Mother-in-law never bought anything unless it was on sale. Good tips for holiday shopping bargains.
