When you have sensitive skin, even products designed to keep your skin from being afflicted and irritated can leave you itchy and dry. Since most store-bought products for sensitive skin still have additives and preservatives that can leave your skin unhappy, try making your own lotion that you can use every day for your sensitive skin that won’t leave you irritated! It’s cheap and easy and works great to rejuvenate and hydrate your skin without harmful additives.
Lavender oil is a best friend for sensitive skin. It does not harm the skin, smells wonderful, and is actually great for treating preexisting rashes or allergies on the skin and help the skin heal while hydrating it at the same time. Take cocoa butter and add lavender oil together (cocoa butter is great for skin hydration) and store in a jar. Keep refrigerated and use within 30 days for the best use. For every tablespoon of cocoa butter you use, add about 6 drops of lavender oil (you can use more or less according to how much scent you would like- I recommend using at least 6 drops for the best healing properties of lavender oil for your skin).
A wonderful night cream for sensitive skin that hydrates and rejuvenates your skin while you sleep involves apples. Rich in anti-oxidants, apples work to help pull free radicals out of your skin and repair daily skin damage. The malic acid in apples work to firm and smooth skin as well, making them an excellent wrinkle fighter. Take 1 whole apple, cored and cut into small pieces for blending, add a cup of olive oil, and 1 cup of rose water in a blender and blend until very smooth (like applesauce). Apply to your face nightly and store in the refrigerator for the best storage. Use within 30 days.
For very dry skin, especially during winter, try this easy home recipe for sensitive skin lotion- take 1/2 cup distilled or rose water, 1 tablespoon lecithin (it helps water and oil mix together well and will not harm skin), 1/2 cup olive oil, 7 drops geranium oil (and excellent oil for hydrating and repairing very damaged skin and mature skin), a few drops of myrrh oil (a lightly scented skin nourisher) and a teaspoon of Vitamin E oil or lavender oil for repairing and treating skin allergies and rashy skin. Whip all these ingredients together for a creamy texture, and store in the fridge to keep the lotion fresh. This can be applied daily to treat current skin irritation and dryness, and works great to bring back your skin’s healthy appearance.
