Downtown Brooklyn or Fort Greene it’s here where the magic happens. Though not world famous as Times Square and Wall st. This place has been the cultural/economic center of Brooklyn that keeps getting better. Whether it’s the Jay Z endorsed Barclay center construction or something to eat at Juniors world famous cheesecake the new and old traditions of the neighborhood is omnipresent. For my fellow residents there are a lot of things in store for Fall 2010. Well mostly B.A.M performances and the annual SHSAT test that scares all 8th graders and forces parents who have bright dreams for their children to frantically place them in any test prep class they can find. Speaking of schooling I recently read an article on Forbes.com. I know Forbes is random but what got my interest was it’s title ” Colleges that will make you rich”. Being a college student who is in the hole with $ 50,000 what will be great having my school be listed so I will have hope that I won’t be paying off loans until my girlfriend hits menopause. However one of the schools on the list is my neighborhood’s Polytechnic Institute of NYU. Which happens to be dad’s graduate school and he graduated with no loans and hopefully his future opulence trickles down to me like Reagonomics. Before the summer on one of those 10 inch snow days I ate at Ruthies one of the best soul food places in nyc. Ruthies’s signature dish has to be it’s fried chicken which is twice the size of the portions found at kfc and popeyes. That’s it for now enjoy the sights, smells, and sensations of my home.
