Citrix Metaframe allows you to virtually access your company’s server remotely using any computer. Each company has their own web login page where a user may enter their username and password, logging into the remote service. Using Metaframe ensure’s the security of the information you are working with. Once properly logged in, Metaframe opens up a new window showing the desktop from the company’s server. You may click within this window the same as any computer. To avoid confusion, minimize the Metaframe window when you want to do something on the computer you are actually using.
How the program works:
Once you login to your company’s website Citrix will send you a file called launch.asp or launch.asp.ica depending on your windows explorer view settings. The .ica extension stands for Independent Computing Architecture which is used by Citrix application servers and contains configuration information for connection with their servers. This file is then opened by your computer in order to establish a secure connection to the Citrix virtual server.
After Citrix sends the file, your internet browser will then prompt you as to what you want to do with the file, either open the file or to save the file. Next to the open option on the dropdown menu, click on ica32t.exe if it isn’t already selected and hit ok. If ica32t.exe isn’t in the list you need to install ica32t.exe In order to open the file. You should be able to download this file from the login page from your Citrix Metaframe account, if not, contact your IT department for further directions. Download and installed the file. Once installed, log back into your metaframe account and open the file with ica32t.exe.
