Tell me a little bit about yourself.
“I got started doing hypnosis after becoming licensed professional counselor and a licensed Religious Science practitioner. I had learned about hypnosis in my earlier training and always had a keen interest in it. I have received two certifications in hypnotherapy ‘” one from the Leidecker Institute and another from Banyan Hypnosis Center. I have been helping people through hypnosis and hypnotherapy since 2003.”
What are the advantages of using hypnosis over many of the other types of weight loss programs?
“Hypnosis is one of the most powerful ways to shift the core issues associated with weight gain problems. The problem with many weight loss programs is they focus much more on what you are doing rather than the root cause of the unhealthy patterns. What causes people to eat and neglect exercise stem from emotional issues that are resident in the subconscious mind (our deeper beliefs). Most weight loss programs only address focusing our conscious mind on what we “should be doing. The problem with only focusing the conscious mind on eating healthy is that over 90% of our behavior is driven by our subconscious mind. When you try to over ride these impulses, it is very difficult to transform them within addressing shifts needed at a deeper level. Hypnosis goes beyond the conscious mind and directly speaks to our subconscious mind.”
“The second powerful benefit is that hypnosis is 100% natural. There are a number of weight loss programs that involve medication and/or supplement regimens. In some cases, medical interventions like bastric bypass surgery might be recommended. These carry with them dangers and side effects that can be very damaging to your health. Additionally, I have worked with a number of people that have not seen lasting results from these modalities despite taking such big risks.”
“The third powerful benefit is that you witness many other benefits from hypnosis that naturally support weight loss. Hypnosis is one of the most profoundly relaxing experiences that produces great joy for many that experience it. I have seen people eliminate or greatly reduce their stress levels through hypnosis itself that assists in clearing stress based eating. Would someone need to use other forms of therapy or doing anything else that would maximize the benefits of hypnosis on weight loss?
“As powerful as hypnosis can be for many people, I do recommend that other forms of help be employed. The primary goal of any weight loss program should be to transform the way that you approach your entire life. In order to make this radical transformation, you should employ all the help that you possible can get. I have clients that join a gym and/or hire personal trainers. I have seen where accountability partners can be extremely helpful. When you do a transformation together with others, it makes it much more powerful for everyone involved. In some cases, it might be helpful to hire therapists and/or coaches to help with specific issues that need to be addressed such as marital issues, sexual abuse, deep depression, etc — I encourage my clients to take steps that would allow for a true sense of empowerment and joy in making this transformation that comes through focusing on weight loss program as a vehicle for personal transformation.”
What is a typical hypnosis experience for someone who wants to loss weight?
“I find that most people come in saying that losing the weight is their objective. After investigating their deeper desires, you begin to realize that their weight issues are simply a symptom of something deeper. For example, one of the universal desires is to experience a deeper feeling of worthiness and self-esteem. There are usually a number of limiting beliefs that they have picked up in childhood that are holding them back. This is where we clear the subconscious motivation to maintain old patterns and then start the deeper work of clearing core issues. Throughout the entire program, we focus on the practical steps of changing their diet and exercise patterns within the hypnosis to support their core desire. A hypnosis or hypnotherapy program for weight loss will help support people for permanent long-term changes when done best.”
What advice would you like to leave for someone who is considering hypnosis to help him or her loss weight?
“I would tell them to be sure they want a deeper transformation beyond weight loss alone. If they want a permanent shift in their life, it is required to address the core issues that they are facing. Certainly, there are a number of hypnosis programs that claim success without addressing deeper issues. You never hear about how their success stories later gained back all the weight and more later. You want to be sure that you’re in it for a deeper transformation over the long haul. Hypnosis is often considered a quick fix to everything because it is very powerful. However, weight loss is usually more complex than most others issues that can be a deep and meaningful journey to change your entire life. Hypnosis is a perfect vehicle to support you in making this transformation. Be sure to pick a hypnotist or hypnotherapist that is dedicated to your complete transformation rather than a quick and dramatic drops in your weight, which almost never lasts.”
