Pursuing a degree in French and Spanish in the early 1970’s had the intent to secure a position with Trans World Airlines as a lead fight steward. I had established a divine triangle that would allow for the lifestyle of a high flying playboy with apartments in Madrid, Paris, and New York.
The dream was perfect. I would oui oui, si si, and New York New York my way into bliss. For this, I would have at my disposal three formal languages and spoken Greek.
OK, that dream did not pan out. Among other things I have done over a lifetime of multiple careers, I became a writer. A background in languages, their historic and cultural development proved to be an asset.
I was not limited to the cultural nuances of my own language. I had others available to me enabling me to be published initially in world journals, The African Methodist Episcopal Christian Recorder and The Christian Methodist Episcopal Christian Index.
It would land me opportunities to write for newspapers in the states of Kentucky and Ohio where I have lived most of my adult life and career. I am published in national magazines. Among them are Pattern Pieces, Say Amen Magazine, From One Brother to Another, and American Baptists.
Publications include Pearls of Joy, Meditations for Loving People; the Monday Morning Word 2000, Monday Morning Mediations to enhance relational productivity, and Exploring ourselves and Our Relationships with Other People. I have been publishing inspirational columns and how to’s for relationships since the early 1990’s. My work is on file n the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Being a writer lent itself to support of my work as a public speaker. Over my career of the past 30 years, I have served as a principle speaker among clergy gatherings nationally and international.
I was the principle guest speak for Music and Mission in the city in London in the late 1990’s. I have been the speaker in military chapel for an Air Force installation in Greece. I have spoken to audiences in Japan and Korea that treated my like I was a rock star even to following the bus I was on when leaving a venue where I just appeared.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in French and a minor in Spanish from Kentucky State University in Frankfort Kentucky in May 8, 1978. Since that time I have added a Master of Divinity and Master of Science. For the past five years, I have taken on writing novels and screenplays. A writer’s universe is always expanding.
My career as writer and speaker provided many experiences to meet people I would never otherwise have had opportunity to meet. My bachelor degree was the foundation for launching this career. I did not become a jet setting play boy. I became much more travelling the world to influence human thought and relationship development.
