If your anything like me, you love your Apple iPhone, and you constantly try to find new ways to incorporate all that it has to offer into your daily routine. I have owned every iteration of phone that Apple has offered. I currently use the iPhone 4 as my phone, iPod, web browser, e-book reader, gaming device, and so much more. Like most families with kids, our biggest challenge has always been trying to keep track of everyone’s schedules in the most organized, easiest way possible. Unfortunately, the standard calendar application offered on the iPhone 4 is not robust enough for my needs.
So many choices
The typical answer to this dilemma is to download a calendar application from the Apple App Store that can be shared across multiple platforms and/or computer operating systems. Ok, now what? A quick search in the App Store for calendar apps, returns a list of over 1100 various apps to choose from. Sorting through a list that size can be quite daunting. How do you choose which calendar app is best for you without spending a small fortune testing a bunch of them out?
What features suit your needs?
In addition to the fact that there are many different choices of calendar applications, many of them also focus on a subset of features that may or may not be important or useful to you. Decide what you need your calendar app to do? Do you want to be able to synch your calendar to the cloud so that other family members and friends can see and share their schedule with you as well as yours with them? Do you need to be able to support multiple accounts on the same calendar? Would you like to be able to use your calendar app across multiple platforms and operating systems?
Who can help?
Now that you know what your looking for, where can you find sound advice and or reviews to help you make a informed decision. There is an abundance of tech blogs and app review sites. So which sites are the best for you? Without endorsing any specific sites, you can easily find reputable options with a simple Internet search. Free reviews are provided for this very reason. Obviously, word of mouth is always a great option, too. Ask your friends, and co-workers what they’re using. I have often found this to be one of the best resources available since my friends are more likely to share the same needs as I do.
