A Fall themed word wall is very easy to create and a lot of fun. Some teachers choose to change their word wall décor along with the seasons. This is really a great way for the kids to learn all about the different seasons in the year. Below you will find a few simple suggestions on how to really make the word wall stand out.
Make your own leaves
You can start by having the kids make their own leaves for the word wall using construction paper. You can easily cut out a pattern that the kids can trace, and cut out. Allow the kids to cut out the leaves in different colors and then you can hang them up on the bulletin board. I have found it to be a good idea to lay down some construction paper on the bulleting board so that you can glue the leaves to the bulletin boards. You can put letters on the leaves as well as numbers on the leaves. Glue these items to the bulletin board as each kid finishes making them. It is really a great way for the kids to learn their letters, and their numbers.
Make a squirrel boarder
I really love to add squirrels to my Fall themed word wall. You can easily create your own boarder using manila folders. You can find pictures of squirrels on the internet, and print them out. You can then have the kids color the squirrels, and then you can glue them to the manila folder. Cut the folder into long strips before you glue the squirrels to the folder. You can even separate the squirrels by placing an acorn in between each of the squirrels. Or in place of the acorns you can easily place some letters, or numbers in between each of the squirrels. Remember that you want your board to be educational, and include the Fall season. It may also be a good idea to make the squirrels look like they are chasing the acorn. You can then place the border around the edge of the bulletin board.
Remember that when it comes to making the word wall you will want to be creative, and make it as fun as possible. By having all of the kids participate in making the Fall themed word wall, you will be helping them learn all about Fall. Last but not least it may be a good idea to include other animals in the pictures as well. You can easily have the kids draw pictures of the animals they want on the board and hang them up. This can be the art section of your bulletin board. It really is very simple and fun to make.
