Curling irons have always been used by women to get nice curly locks. Lately a new trend has started, curling your hair with a straightener. It may sound crazy, but it is known to get better results then an actual curling iron does.
Spray your hair with heat protectant spray. Spray the heat protectant spray all over your hair. You will want to spray it at least 6 inches away from your hair, because if you spray it to close it will make your hair look greasy.
Brush your hair thoroughly. It is important to brush out any tangles you may have in your hair. If you don’t get out all of the tangles, your curls will not look as good.
Start to section your hair. Section one small section of hair at a time. Each section should be no more then one inch thick. If the section of hair is any thicker, the curl will not turn out good. You can use a bobby pins to section your hair, or pony tail holders.
Clamp the straightener as close to the root of your hair as possible. Turn the straightener about 180 degrees, and slowly glide the straightener down. The slower you glide the straightener down, the better your curls will look.
With the next small section of hair, you will do the same to curl it. Except this time you will turn the straightener the opposite way 180 degrees. By doing this, it will separate the curls, so they don’t get stuck together. Continue using this pattern for every section of your hair.
Experiment. Everyone has different hair. If you are not satisfied with what the curls look like, try making the section bigger, or smaller. Curling your hair can be very hard on your hair if you don’t use a heat protectant spray. You should spray your hair with the heat protectant spray sparatically while curling it.
