Clinique’s 3-step skin care system is a rather well-known system designed for a complete skincare routine. It is customized to each person based on their skin type, I, II, III, or IV. If you’re new to Clinique, or just need a little help determining your skin type, this article will help you out!
Skin type I-normal skin: What does normal skin mean? It basically means that your skin is neither oily or dry. Think about it. Are there any places on your face that ever feel tight? Are there any places on your face that feel a little oily or get shiny during the day? If you answered yes to either of those two questions, move on to the next skin types. Normal skin means you are lucky-your skin is fairly well balanced and is neither dry nor oily.
Skin type II-combination: So skin types II and III are combination skin. This means that you have a combination of oily/normal/dry areas on your face. Skin type II means that you have an oily t-zone (across your browbone and down your nose to your chin) and dry cheeks. If you notice shiny spots on your t-zone area at the end of the day, even though your cheeks feel a little tight or dry, you probably have type II skin.
Skin type III-combination: Skin type III is also combination skin. It means that you have an oily t-zone, but you have normal cheeks, unlike skin type II. If you don’t experience dryness in your cheeks, but you do see some shininess in your t-zone, you have skin type III.
Skin type IV-oily: This means that your entire face is oily. By the end of the day, your entire face looks shiny and greasy. While you may be a skin type IV, please keep in mind that if you have never used Clinique’s 3-step before, you may find the formula for skin type IV a little harsh. You may want to try out skin type III.
These are general guidelines to determining your skin type, because I know that sometimes other people do not profile your skin as well as you can do it yourself. The ladies at the counter will probably help you out if you are really clueless, but remember that you are always the best judge of your skin type.
