If you are a tomboy in need of a more feminine wardrobe consider the following ways to dress more girly.
Cardigans take a girl from average to adorable. They look preppy as well as sweet and dainty. There are different ways to dress up cardigans. They can be worn with just the first button buttoned for a more preppy look, or wrapped around and tied up with a cute belt. The other great thing about cardigans is that you can dress them up with almost everything. Throw them over a cute dress, tank top, etc. See an example of a girl wearing a cardigan here.
Full Skirts and Dresses
Wearing a skirt is already ultra girly and feminine as it is. But bring it up a notch and wear a skirt or dress that tapers in at the waist but then begins to gather more volume at the hips. It makes a woman’s figure look fantastic because the cut of the dress or skirt accentuates the waist. You’ll also feel like a princess in a full skirt or dress so it will definitely set the mood for not only looking girly but acting girly. See pictures of full skirts and dresses here and here.
There are colors on the color wheel that many men consider off limits for them. These of course would be the more girly colors such as pinks, purples, and pale yellows. Throughout high school I would always hear guys go on and on about how they loved it when girls wore pink. I hated the color pink. I thought it was barfy and cheesy. But one day I decided to put the color to the test and decided to wear a medium toned pink shirt. That day I received a lot of compliments (from boys, go figure) but I also felt very feminine. Wear a girly color with denim jeans or a skirt. View examples here and here.
Wear Feminine Patterns
Personally I like a more solid look when purchasing clothing. The only patterned items of clothing I own have flowers on them. I love flowers. I’ve seen a lot of girls pull off shirts and dresses with cute little patterns on them such as stars, hearts, birds, glitter, flowers, etc. This picture shows some celebrities looking hot in patterned dresses.
