The Microsoft Xbox 360 is not just a gaming system, but rather an entire living room media experience. Supporting high definition televisions and full surround sound, and with options like ESPN, Netflix and Last.FM, the Xbox 360 connects your entire living room. Netflix and Last.FM allow you to stream movies, televisions shows and music straight to your Xbox 360, while ESPN will have live games and other shows, many of which are available in HD. The addition of Kinect allows even more options, like facial recognition, a gesture controlled interface and video chat.
Enabling the Welcome Channel
The Xbox 360 Welcome Channel is a great area for those new to the Microsoft Xbox 360, and modern gaming in general. The Welcome Channel features tutorials to help you get the most out of your Xbox 360. There is also information discussing family gaming, privacy, and other Xbox 360 tips. If you’re having trouble doing anything on your Xbox 360, the Welcome Channel should be one of the first places you look. IT will most likely save you from having to get up from your couch to search for the answers online.
If you find that the Welcome Channel isn’t displayed as an option on your Xbox 360’s dashboard, then you will simply need to enable the channel. This is an easy process that will take just a minute or two. Remember that the Welcome Channel will be located below the Spotlight Channel on the Xbox 360 dashboard.
First, you will need to navigate to My Xbox Channel from the dashboard, and select System Settings, which can be found to the extreme right. Now navigate to Console Settings->Startup and Shutdown->Welcome Channel. From the Welcome Channel menu, select Show. At this point, you will be able to find the Welcome Channel on your Xbox 360’s Dashboard.
Disabling the Welcome Channel
For those of you quite familiar with the Xbox 360 interface, and technology in general, most interaction with the Xbox 360 will come naturally. The Welcome Channel provides information about using your Xbox 360, but adds clutter to the Xbox 360 dashboard. To make it easier to navigate your dashboard, you can disable the Welcome Channel.
Navigate to the My Xbox Channel, and then select System Settings, which is located at the extreme right. Now, select Console Settings->Startup and Shutdown->Welcome Channel. From the Welcome Channel menu, select Hide. Alternatively, you can disable the Welcome Channel by navigating to the Welcome Channel and selecting Hide Channel at the extreme right.
