Fleas will cause your animals to be itchy and even sometimes have allergic reactions. Not to mention they are not so pleasant to see jumping all over the place in your home. Fleas will lay eggs and continue their life cycle in your house and they can be extremely difficult to completely get rid of. Fleas are common, so it may not seem like a big deal, but these little annoyances can carry other problems. A common way that an animal gets a tapeworm is through accidentally ingesting a flea. Fleas are known for carrying tapeworms. Get rid of fleas before they become a problem. Here are some tips on how to get rid of fleas in your house…
First off, it is important to treat all animals in your house with flea medication. This will prevent the fleas from jumping on the animals, feeding, and then breeding. If the fleas cant jump on the animals and feed, they will eventually end up dying. A lot of flea medications need to be put on the animals each month for best results.
Many of these fleas are actually on your carpet and around your house. You may see them jumping around and landing on you. Get out of the vacuum and start vacuuming the whole house. Make sure you get spots that the animals like to be. This will suck up some of the fleas on the carpet, some of the eggs and larvae. If fleas aren’t enough to disgust you, their larvae look like small worms. Imagine small worms all around your home and in the carpet. Make sure after you vacuum to throw away the vacuum bag or empty the vacuum container into a garbage bag and put it outside.
If you cannot seem to get rid of the flea problem in your home, the next best thing may be to do a flea bomb in the house. These will require you to leave your house for multiple hours and keep all animals out of the house. You should try to find the safest type of flea bomb for the animals.
They sell products that you can put on your carpet that will kill fleas, such as powder or borax. Borax is not good for animals so it is best to get them out of the house before using this product. Make sure that you completely clean it all up after you are done. They also sell products that are aerosol sprays for your house that will kill fleas. They end the flea life cycle and will stop reinfestations. A veterinarian told me to use Mycodex Plus for the house; from my experience, it works quite well. It kills all stages of the fleas, and it also kills multiple types of infestations, such as cockroaches, spiders, ants, etc.
