You have plans to go out with your family, which means getting your teenager up and out of bed by a certain time. Sounds stressful I know, some teenagers just will not get out of bed no matter what it is you do to get them out of bed.
Here are some helpful tips that will help you remove your teenager from the bed and get them up and going. Some might seem a bit silly; they do however work.
Invest in a loud, annoying alarm clock. Once you have the alarm clock, wait until your teenager goes to sleep to set it. Place it on the opposite side of the room. Once it does go off, he/she has no other choice but to drag themselves out of bed to turn it off.
Since almost every teenager has a cellphone, take it and threaten to look inside of it. This will definitely get them out of bed. No teenager wants their parents in their business, especially when it comes to their cell phones. Works like a charm every time.
A sure way to get your teenager out of bed, is to tell them their friend is on the phone or at the door. Be sure you put their phone somewhere other than their bedroom. When they finally drag themselves out of bed, you can nicely tell them that it was just a ploy to wake them up.
From the door, take a running start and jump! You got it, jump right on them and scare the daylights out of them. This will surely get them out of bed with an attitude, but it will get them out of bed.
With ear plugs in, turn the volume up on their radio and run. Besides startling them out of bed, they have to get up and turn it off which gets them out of bed as well. If they use an Ipod or computer for listening to music. Place headphones over their head and turn it up. You get the same effect either way.
Last but not least, if all else fails. The number one way to get a teenager out of bed is by soaking them with ice cold water. It can be a little bit messy, but it is only water. Just make sure the water is almost freezing temperature.
Most of these tips work every time. If one does not work, try another one. Eventually they will get the point and just wake up so you stop trying to wake them up. Keep your temper low key when waking them up. No one wants to be woken up by someone with attitude. Attitude brings more attitude, then it just ruins the whole day. Keep a smile on your face, and they will wake up soon.
