So, you’ve been wearing your flip flops all summer and even though your feet look like they’ve been through the ringer, you think you’re off the hook since fall is nearing and your flip flops will soon be shoved in the back of the closet.
Think again. There are many chances you’ll be barefoot during the fall and winter at some point, and you should make sure that your feet look as good as the rest of you. And whether you are single and ready to mingle or have a significant other, the women in your life will be sure to thank you.
Here are the basic steps you need to take to keep your feet nice and handsome year round:
1. Keep your toenails trimmed. Do not let your toes form into claws. Women don’t appreciate it – especially in the middle of the night when something scratches their legs… I suggest trimming them every other week. Cut them straight across. No fancy points or curves needed.
2. Scrub your feet in the shower. Make sure you have a strong, anti-bacterial soap, and scrub away with at least a wash cloth. If you have a scrub brush, use this to remove extra dirt and exfoliate (exfoliate just means to wash away dead, gross skin). Do this every day, if not, twice a day.
3. After you shower, push back your cuticles. You know that skin that creeps up around the bottom of your fingernails and toenails? You are supposed to push that down. Don’t be too forceful, but after you are done with your shower, push your cuticles back (might as well do the ones on your hands too) with your finger nail. This whole process should take 15 seconds max. I promise. You can probably get away with doing this every other day too.
4. Use foot powder in your shoes. Before you put your shoes on and go out the door, apply a little bit of foot powder to the insides of your shoes, as to not kill anyone with your foot scent when you take off your shoes in a couple hours. Do this daily.
That’s all there is to it! Of course, there are other steps I could have thrown in, with all sorts of lotions and potions, but I know many men are just interested in the basics so they can be on their way out the door. So, here’s your simple list of four easy steps to take to keep your feet looking as good as you do year round. ;-)
