Crazy about birdhouses? Add one more to your collection: a birdhouse pinata. Your guests will love the unusual birdhouse that’s filled with candy and it’ll be the hit of your upcoming party. It costs very little money to make a birdhouse pinata and you won’t find it difficult at all to make it.
Use thin cardboard to make the unique birdhouse. Decide how wide you want it to be and how tall. Draw a square of these measurements on the cardboard. Draw the shape three more times, side-by-side with the first one, so that you have four of these shapes aligned on the cardboard. If your cardboard isn’t long enough to do this you can cut the four shapes into individual panels.
If you’re using one long piece of cardboard fold it so that you form a square with four walls. This is the main shape of the birdhouse. Tape or glue the first and last end together to hold the shape. If you’re using individual panels you can make one panel that you fold to form two sides, or you can cut four separate panels. Tape or glue the panels together to make the square shape.
Set the birdhouse onto another piece of cardboard and draw around the bottom. Cut two cardboard panels to this shape. Glue or tape one of them onto the bottom of the birdhouse. Now fill the house with the candy and other goodies. Tape or glue the last panel on top of the house.
Cut a long, wide piece of cardboard to use for the roof. Fold the cardboard in half to make the “v” shape for the roof. Poke a hole in the center of the fold then thread a cord through it. Loop the cord above the roof, then bring the end back through the same hole, and tape or glue the ends inside. Glue or tape the roof to the top of the birdhouse.
Use colored tissue paper to decorate the house. Tear off pieces and make window and door shapes. Tear off more pieces and cover the entire house. Use even a different color to cover the roof with the torn pieces. When you’re finished you’ll be pretty impressed with your own abilities. The birdhouse pinata is so fun and easy that you’ll probably be making another one in the near future!
