If you love good coffee but can’t afford to splurge at Starbucks every day, why not learn how to make a cappuccino without a cappuccino maker. You can still have the rich taste of coffee you love and the froth on top, without grinding your own coffee beans or steaming your milk. Here’s everything you need to make a cappuccino without buying an expensive cappuccino maker or spending ten minutes on preparing a single cup.
The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make a Cappuccino without a Cappuccino Maker
* Kava instant coffee (from Smucker’s)
* Sugar to taste or flavored coffee creamer
* French vanilla ice cream (low fat if preferred)
Here’s How to Make a Cappuccino without a Cappuccino Maker
Step #1: Make a Cappuccino Coffee Brew
To make a cappuccino from instant coffee rather than brewed coffee beans, choose a rich brand of instant coffee. Kava coffee by Smucker’s is the best instant coffee I have come across. It is strong coffee that was especially depleted of acid, to remove the bitter taste associate with low quality coffee. Also, Kava melts instantly into a rich, frothy brew, even with only a tiny bit of boiling water, which makes it a good choice when you want to make a cappuccino without a cappuccino maker. Place as much Kava coffee as you like in your cup and melt it with 1/2 a cup of boiling water. Add 1/2 the amount of sugar you would typically like, or 1/2 the amount of flavored coffee creamer.
Tip: for Cafe au Lait, replace some of the boiling water with milk heated in your microwave. In this way you can make a cappuccino that is more milky and smooth.
Step #2: Make a Cappuccino Froth
To make a cappuccino forth without boiling milk, add a large scoop of French Vanilla ice cream and a dash of cinnamon to the coffee, then stir until the ice cream melts into a frothy, cappuccino like texture. The cinnamon will give this froth a cappuccino sort of color and scent. To make a cappuccino with rich, creamy flavor, choose regular ice cream. But if you’re counting calories, use a low fat, or 1/2 fat ice cream. You’ll still make a cappuccino to rival your ordinary cup of coffee.
Step #3: Make a Cappuccino or Frappuccino
Make a cappuccino to suit your favorite coffee temeprature by heating the finished cappuccino in your microwave without bringing it to a boil, which will cause the cappuccino to overflow. Alternatively, make the cappuccino using a hot spoon to start melting the ice cream as you scoop it. This too will keep your cappuccino hot. If you want to make a frappuccino instead of hot cappuccino, simply use a little boiling water to melt the coffee then add cold milk and crushed ice and blend in your blender. You can even add protein powder for a healthy, frappuccino shake that makes a delicious, nutritious breakfast with the cappuccino flavor you crave in the morning.
