Desserts are something we all have enjoyed from time to time, and whether we have a preference of pie over cake, or Jell-O over pudding, one recipe that is sure to satisfy, taste sweet, and take up hardly any preparation time is the ice cream cookie layer cake. The name of this treat will seem longer than the amount of time it will take you to prepare this cake, and you will certainly not be disappointed once you have.
To begin, you will need to gather the proper ingredients required for your cake to become a success. Graham cracker crumbs which you will use as the crust of your cake, ice cream preferably vanilla (however any flavor of your choice will do), hot fudge, and soft chocolate chip cookies. To hold your ice cream cake, I would recommend using a rectangular glass pan because it makes it easier to cut and serve later on.
First, measure out four table spoons of butter, melt the butter in the microwave and then add the butter to your graham cracker crumbs. This will be trial and error because the amount of graham cracker crumbs and butter you use will depend on how big your rectangular pan is. When your graham cracker crumbs and butter are combined, you can begin pressing the graham cracker crumbs onto the bottom of your pan until the bottom and some of the sides of the pan are covered with the crumbs. There should be no gaps in this crust.
Next, scoop out your ice cream and begin to make a layer on top of the crumbs. You may need to put the ice cream into the microwave for a few seconds just to soften it because you need to spread the ice cream carefully across the crust without breaking the crumbs off. Once you have an adequate layer of ice cream, take your chocolate chip cookies and add them on top of the ice cream. This can be done by either using the whole cookie or cutting the cookie in half and placing half cookies on top of the ice cream. Next, drizzle some of your hot fudge on top of the cookies and you are ready to begin your next ice cream layer.
The next layer is going to be just like the first one. You add your ice cream, then layer it with cookies and drizzle with hot fudge. The top layer you can get creative with if your want and add marshmallows and sprinkles cherries, whatever you would like to add. Once you have completed assembling your cake, it can be stored in the fridge and served whenever the occasion calls for it.
