I grew up as a young lad in England and Banoffee Pie was a treat my mum used to make for our family every once in a while. I used to look forward to the day that she would make this delicious pie.
When I moved to America in 2002, I was surprised that my wife and her family had never heard of Banoffee Pie. It is a very common dessert in England and I was quite shocked that not many people has heard of it in the States. Maybe it is just the part of the states I am living in, but one thing for sure is, if everyone knew about Banoffee Pie, it would become an instant classic. How To Make Banoffee Pie
Banoffee Pie is one of the easiest, pies you will ever make. There are just a few ingredients in Banoffee Pie and takes just a few of hours for it to be ready. Here is what you will need to make your Banoffee Pie
2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
2 or 3 Large Bananas
1 Graham Cracker Crust
1 Milk Chocolate Bar for Grating
Boil The Milk
In a medium saucepan bring water to a boil, once at a boil cut it back just a little and place the 2 unopened cans of condensed milk into the water and cover, Let them sit in the water for about 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours. Add water as needed, do not let the water evaporate.
When they are done, remove the cans from the water and wait 3 minutes so that the can can cool a little. Open the can, the condensed milk will look like caramel. Scoop the caramel out of the cans into the Graham cracker crust, smooth it out so that it fills the crust to an even level. Put the pie crust with the filling in the fridge until it is cold.
Banana’s and Chocolate
Once it is cold, remove from the fridge. Cut your Banana’s into slices, lay them on top of the caramel filling, spread them evenly so you can ensure you get some in each bite. Once you have done this, get your cool whip and spread the cool whip over the top of the bananas so that the caramel is completely covered, then you are ready for the chocolate. Grab your favorite milk chocolate or dark chocolate bar and grate it over the top of the cool whip! If you do not want to grate you can just break it or chop it finely, put it back in the fridge until you are ready to eat!
