Every little girl dreams about being a princess, so why not turn a whimsical wish into a fantastic reality and host a princess themed birthday party for her majesty this year? The very first step to planning such an event is creating princess party invitations, of course! And here is a simple, yet sensational idea for hand crafted invites:
First of all, at a craft or scrapbooking store, purchase a stack of pink or lilac 8 ½ by 11 card stock paper. Cut the card stock in two and fold in half to form cards. Next, also at a craft shop, choose a 12 by 12 sheet of patterned princess themed paper. One sheet should be enough to make approximately 20 party invitations. While browsing the aisles, you will also need to pick up a roll of pink or purple gauzy ribbon, a few colored rhinestones or sequins and some all purpose glue.
Now, using the decorative 12 by 12 paper, cut out a bunch of triangular princess hat shapes. You can, first of all, draw a template and then trace it onto your paper for a consistent design. Then, adhere your hats to the pink or lilac card stock with the glue. Or to make your cards really stand out, consider using elevated foam adhesives to attach your pointy princess hats.
You may also want to embellish the hats with a scrapbooking product called Stickles. Stickles are small bottles of glittery glue that come in an array of cool colors and add pizzazz to any craft project. Stickles come with a screw cap and a pointed spout for easy and precise application. Just be sure to let the Stickles dry thoroughly for about one hour.
Once your hats are securely applied to your cards, you will want to then add a strand of gauzy ribbon to the point of each one. You can do this using some all purpose, clear drying glue. When the gauzy ribbon is cut, glue it to the hat and top it off with a sparkly sequin or rhinestone.
On the inside of your adorable homemade princess party invitations, print or hand write the event information. You can also apply some additional sequins and rhinestones for some extra bling! And you will find reasonably priced coordinating card envelopes sold in bulk at your local craft or office supply store.
These hand crafted princess invites, also make great birthday cards, birth announcements and a fun project to do at a play date or a Girl Scout meeting.
