To begin, you will need to gather the ingredients necessary to prepare your granola. First, as the main ingredient, you will need dry oats, honey to keep the oats together, sugar, butter, and any other sort of ingredients you would like to add such as dried fruits, chocolate chips, peanut butter, shredded coconut, and so on.
First, you will mix the granola (one cup for a small batch, but you can alter the amounts according to your own liking) with two tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of melted butter. Each piece of dried granola should be coated and moist, if it still has a dry texture, add a little bit more of the honey until you see that all of the oats are coated. You can then add any of the other ingredients that you like such as the dried fruits or chocolate chips.
Next, get out a cookie sheet, grease it slightly and then place your granola mixture on top of it. Flatten out the granola so it lies in a flat line on your cookie sheet. Then take your sugar, and sprinkle it on top of the flat surface of the granola, add as much or as little as you would like. Bake your granola at 325 degrees until the top layer is golden brown, the amount of time that your granola cooks for really depends on how much granola that you make, as long as you follow the rule to cook the granola until the top is golden brown you won’t have a problem.
Once your granola is cooked, you can use a spatula to remove it from the cookie sheet. Be sure to allow the proper amount of time to cool before placing it in a container for storage. Also, keep in mind that if you not fond of honey and would prefer a different substance to keep your granola together and moist while cooking, then you can substitute that for maple syrup or peanut butter, any sticky substance used for cooking that you enjoy.
With this easy to follow recipe, there is no reason why you can’t enjoy a homemade granola that you have cooked to your liking with all of your favorite ingredients piled in.
