When the temperature is steamy and the sweat is pouring down your face, sometimes relief seems far away. Why not have a yummy vanilla snow cone? They are very easy to make and will cool you down quickly! This is also a great project for parents and children to do together! It is fast, easy and very cheap!
What you need:
One tray of ice cubes
One cup of sugar
One and a half cups of water
One tablespoon of vanilla extract
One ice shaver or previously shaved ice
1. In a medium sized pot, boil one and a half cups of water, one cup of sugar and one tablespoon of vanilla extract.
2. Stir often as it boils.
3. Once at a rolling boil, remove from heat and let cool for approximately 5 minutes. When cool, pour the syrup in a container and set in freezer for 15 minutes.
4. Shave your ice with an ice shaver. You can also get crushed ice by placing cubes in a tough plastic bag, covering with a dish towel and pounding it with a hammer.
5. When cool to the touch, remove the syrup from the freezer and pour enough over shaved ice to your liking!
6. Enjoy and cool off!
You can refrigerate the extra syrup. It will stay good in the refrigerator for about a week.
