Autumn is almost here and one way to spruce up your front and backyard is to make your own paper autumn leaves. It is a great way to add more color and design to the leaves already spread across your yard. Simple, easy and fun: How to make autumn leaves for Halloween.
9 x 12 white carbon paper
The first thing you need is 9 x12 sheets of white carbon paper. It needs to be good quality but still can be inexpensive paper. You can buy 9 x12 white carbon paper at Office Depot, Walgreens, Wal-Mart or other big chain general stores.
It does not matter what color they are as long as they are whole so you can lay them flat on the paper to trace. Make sure the leaves are slightly wet; leaves that are dry can break. You also want to pick leaves that are different in design and color. You can use the color of the leaves for inspiration when painting your own paper autumn leaves.
Number #2 Pencil
Just make sure it is sharp and use it to trace around the leaves as you lay them flat against the white carbon paper. You might want to consider tracing them twice. For a slightly different design, flip the leaf over and trace on a different sheet of paper.
You want sharp tip scissors and you can spray the scissors with warm water before cutting out the paper autumn leaves. Once done, draw lines to get a more authentic look for the leaves. Make sure to cut out all the leaves and lay them on newspaper before you start painting them.
Art Paint and Pencils
For beautiful paper leaves you can make orange red 12, blue white 43, black and white 12, black blue 4, yellow green 11, and light blue and brown 100. You can draw over the lines with the pencils before you paint your paper autumn leaves.
