Are you in Adams County, Colorado and looking for a place to dispose your Christmas tree once the festivities are over? While you may see pieces of evergreen or even a whole tree out on the curb ready for the garbage man to pick up, there are much better ways to dispose of your Christmas tree. In Colorado there are many programs designed to recycle your Christmas tree.
Here in Adams County the EHSO (Environmental, Health, and Safety Online) website lists two prominent programs for Christmas tree recycling.
At Adams County Regional Park in Brighton private residents may drop off two Christmas trees per family. They ask that you remove all tinsel and decoration from the tree before dropping off the tree at the self drop. The park is located at 9755 Henderson Road in Brighton. From Highway 85 head west on 124th for about one mile. There will be signs to direct you to the Christmas tree drop site.
For curbside pick up in Adams County you can contact ArborScape at 303-795-2381. There is a wait list for the Christmas tree recycling program so be sure to call and schedule early. Pick up service for Christmas trees usually begin in early January and cost $15 per tree. When you call to schedule, you will be given a pick up date and asked to have your tree on the curb by 8 am. Your tree will then be picked up and taken for recycling and be turned into mulch for organic uses.
Also be sure to check with your local Boy Scouts troop. Last year troop 484 in Westminster, CO set up a service to pick up your tree and drop it off at a local recycling center. This service would be especially useful for the elderly, disabled, or others who are unable to get to the recycling center themselves.
Rather than spending time cutting your tree into specified sized pieces just to have it tossed into a landfill, recycle your Christmas whole and have it turned into organic mulch to help beautify our county.
