Chances are, if you have installed downloaded software, you have run into toolbars you do not want in your browser. Some of these toolbars are installed and you don’t even know it until you open your browser. This can be very irritating and slow your browser down. I have installed software that would not allow me to finish the installation unless I agreed to install a certain toolbar. I hate that, but I know I can continue with the installation and then go back and completely remove it. In this guide, I will walk you through the steps of removing unwanted toolbars from your browser. This guide will work in most browsers.
Removing Unwanted Toolbars in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Other Browsers
The easiest way to remove toolbars, and completely remove them from your system is by using the Uninstall option in your Control Panel. I will walk you through it. Go to your start menu and locate your control panel. Click to load your control panel and find the Add / Remove Programs link. Once you find this link, click to open it.
In the Add / Remove Programs box, you will need to look for the toolbar you want to remove from your browser. Once you find it, you can click the toolbar to select it. Then click the Remove button. A box will open and ask if you really want to remove it, confirm you do and continue with the uninstall.
Once the toolbar is removed, you can close the Add / Remove Programs box. Now you will need to close your browser and reopen it. The toolbar will be removed. You can also close the browser before removing it. Either way will work.
Another way to remove a toolbar from your browser is by opening your plugins box. I know this will work with Internet Explorer and Firefox, but not sure about the others. When you open the Add Ons box and go to the plugins section, you should see the toolbars that are installed. From there, you can click the toolbar and select the uninstall option and then restart your browser.
Keep in mind that not all toolbars are found in the Add Ons section of your browser. Some toolbars can only be removed through the control panel. So, if you have to install a toolbar to use a program, simply install it and then uninstall it.
