Human trafficking of young girls and women happens daily in the United States. The FBI estimates 100,000 American girls (18 and under) are involved in the sex trafficking trade. In the United States the average age to become a prostitute is just 13 years old.
Sex traffickers use malls to scout for boys and girls to lure into the sex industry. Traffickers target vulnerable individuals like runaways, homeless people, drug addicts, displaced homemakers and other situations that make people vulnerable. While those are their targets, anyone can be a victim.
Usually when a person has been picked out, they will send someone in to meet and talk to the person. They work hard to build a relationship. Once the relationship is built, the person is then forced into prostitution or to work in strip clubs and porn. The person is often accompanied by the trafficker until they are trusted to be loyal. This is often referred to as “breaking” the person. A sex slave is sold multiple times a day with very little if any pay. Most work 17 – 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. When they are allowed to rest the conditions are extremely poor.
The profits to a trafficker selling a sex slave is huge. Sex slaves have been found in 90 cities within the United States. A sex slave can be sold multiple times a day. Some reports are 20 to 30 times a day. A sex slave can make a trafficker $800 to $1000 a day off one kid (male or female), seven days a week. Young girls are premium. Older men (80 – 85)will pay $500 to a $1000 for a girl who is 11 years old. Women of legal age can command more money, which means they are often sold more.
It’s no just slimy old men looking for sex, like some would lead you to believe. According Larry Kings show, a former child sex slave said, “People using child prostitutes are doctors, lawyers, social workers, psychologist, clergy and others.”
Many human slaves don’t leave because they become so bonded and dependent on their trafficker. They are kept under physical threat and threats to their family. They believe if they stay in the situation to protect their family.
