The infamous Haight Street sandwich shop, Ike’s, was shut down amidst tons of gossip and rumors last month, and the landlord-squabble-gone-wrong left Ike’s homeless and a city full of sandwich-eating San Franciscans disgruntled and hungry.
But a couple of weeks ago, Ike’s found a solution to the problem in the form of Lime! Lime, in the Castro, is a dinner-only restaurant (except on Sunday, when they serve brunch as well), and Ike’s has brokered a deal in which they use the kitchen during the daytime. This means that Ike’s lovers can once again order the gorgeous $15 sandwiches they love so much.
But be advised: Ike’s will not take walk-up orders. Repeat: If you want to order a sandwich from Ike’s you need to call ahead and then stop by to pick it up. There is no dine-in option. Phone lines are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. If you’re hungry during those hours, call 415-553-6888 to order your sandwich and come to 2247 Market St. to pick it up.
