The Indianapolis Colts travel down south to Music City to take on their AFC South rivals the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football December 9th. This game takes on major significance as the regular season draws to a close. Peyton Manning and his Indianapolis Colts are in a precarious position and a loss in this game should do them in for the season.
Indianapolis Colts Defense vs Tennessee Titans Offense
The Indianapolis Colts defense is as much a reason for the decline to 6-6 as is Peyton Manning. The Indianapolis Colts defense is still giving up rushing yards in bunches. In their game against a Dallas Cowboys team that cannot manage more than 90 yards rushing per game, The Indianapolis Colts gave up more than 100 yards to Tashard Choice. An embarrassing performance on their home field.
The Tennessee Titans offense is now non existent. Vince Young may have made mistakes but he did bring his team an added threat of leaving the pocket at any time and running for the first down. Kerry Collins was ineffective in the Tennessee Titans game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A player that has plummeted in value over the 2010 NFL season is Randy Moss. Weeks ago the Tennessee Titans were being discussed as favorites to win the AFC South division. Now they are one loss away from packing it in for the season. Chris Johnson should have his way with a weak run defense but the Tennessee Titans must be able to pass for him to be effective. The Tennessee Titans offense has the edge over the Indianapolis Colts.
Tennessee Titans Defense vs Indianapolis Colts Offense
The Tennessee Titans defense has been their strong suit but they have taken a down turn since the beginning of the 2010 NFL season. They are a top five defense but are vulnerable to a good passing game. Courtland Finnegan gets a lot of attention for his antics but if he is being watched by a good officiating crew he is ineffective. The defensive front line is the best aspect of this defense and if they can get to Manning and create pressure the Tennessee Titans have a chance.
The reports of Indianaplois Colts quarterback Peyton Manning’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Manning is a smart quarterback and he will be studying his last two weeks and he probably already knows his mistakes. It appeared obvious on some plays it was a matter of route running mistakes.
