The mention of over 100 animals in the bible is an indication that animals big and small have been a part of us since the beginning. Our love, need and amazement of animals makes them something of wonder and excitement. A truly beautiful creation of Gods work.
Here are a few of my favorite bible versus about animals. I hope you enjoy it and know that even God looks down on us and expects us to be respectful to all living things, human and animal alike.
“Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
How wonderful is our world! Full of life and creation. In this passage you are asked to take a deeper look into the world and ask how else could all of this splendor come to pass without the hand of God? Take in his creations and feel the joy that it can bring to you. When thinking about all the animals on this earth…past, present and future… I am in awe!
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight.”
Luke 12:6; cf. Matthew 10:29
This passage tells us that no matter how much monetary value someone puts on an animal, no matter how big or little, important or insignificant you think one or another animal is, that they are all incredible creations of God that deserve the same level of care, love and respect.
“A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”
No one should be cruel to animals. And this tells us that in the eyes of God the person that takes care to love, and fill all needs of their pets are rewarded and looked upon as righteous and good. Those that are cruel and abuse their animals will not.
“The multitude of your sacrifices- what are they to me?” says the LORD. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.”
Animal abuse is serious and cruel. And no one should take joy in the pain and suffering of animals. Always be kind and patient with your teachings and training of your animals. Make sure they always feel the warmth of a loving family and never hurt them because they are creatures of God, just like you and me.
