The whole idea behind an art project, for kids is to make it simple and creative. I am inspired to be creative by using beautiful colors to make a picture come alive or adding glue to create something with dimension. Creativity can also mean something simple like adding a ribbon or a piece of yarn to a craft so it can be hung up and admired by everyone who passes by. These simple techniques give an easy art project life and a big smile to the face of the creator as they hear your praises of admiration.
It is very important to display proudly the efforts of a child, and by hanging up their art projects this gives them a positive feeling of acceptance and self value. I love to watch children create. I often show them how I’d like something to look so they’ll understand what it is we are making, but there are times when I let them run with their own idea and do their own thing. I feel empowered and creative as I admire their willingness to put their thoughts and dreams into a project that I’ve planned for them to do. Their inner self emerges and I become inspired by watching them, and the simple way they can do three things at the same time while being creative and artistic. I am inspired to do more art projects as I gather ideas from their ambition and drive. Talented artists are not always kids that love to do school work they are kids with imagination and with an enthusiasm to express their feelings using any simple art medium. I like to encourage them to use their imaginations. Allowing a child to express themselves through art opens up an opportunity to understand the child a little better, and so others can get a small feel of their personality, also a little glimpse into what they are feeling shows in the work. It’s a valuable teaching tool that should not be overlooked. I feel kids need art expression. Not to psychoanalysis their behaviors, but to admire their desire to create in whatever small way that is at the time.
As a young teacher I was mentored by one of the best and that Master teacher gave me the desire and inspiration to allow more time for creativity. Art lessons were done on a daily bases and even though we had a lot of academics to get through I always gave the kids a chance to do art in their spare time and I also gave them coloring books as gifts. I am told that I am a fun teacher, and art helps me loosen up. My 24 year old daughter still loves to color and buys herself a coloring book every once in awhile, she’ll probably hate me for writing this.
