The newly unveiled 4th generation iPod Touch is an obvious nod – some would say clone – of the iPhone 4 and borrowed the key iPhone 4 features like FaceTime, the Retina Display, Multitasking, and an HD camera, but the iPod Touch 4 didn’t steal everything from the iPhone 4. Following are a few iPhone 4 features that you won’t find on the new 4th gen iPod Touch.
The iPhone 4’s Stainless Steel Band
If you were to hold a 4th generation iPod Touch and iPhone 4 side by side, you’d immediately see the biggest difference between the iPhone 4 and 4th gen iPod Touch; the differences in their overall design. The iPhone branched out a bit more than its previous design by introducing a durable stainless steel band that made the iPhone 4 easier to hold – but was also responsible for the iPhone 4’s Antenna-Gate. The iPod Touch 4 took a different approach to its design and Apple opted for a curvier, thinner, and compact design with the new iPod Touch – which also helped it to weigh a little less than the iPhone 4.
The 5MP Internal Camera
The iPhone 4 packs a 5MP camera that is the most detailed camera to ever be features on any of Apple’s iDevices and while the new iPod Touch is the first iPod Touch to feature an inbuilt camera; it’s camera is still a bit inferior to the iPhone 4’s camera. The 4th gen iPod Touch only sports a 3MP camera when compared to the brilliant 5 MP camera of the iPhone 4, but I’m just glad to finally have a camera on the iPod Touch.
The iPhone 4 currently ships with two different storage capacities; 16GB and 32GB. The 4th gen iPod Touch will serve a much different purpose than the iPhone 4 and will therefore need a wider range of storage models including an 8GB, 32GB, and 64GB model.
It’d be cool if the new iPod Touch were able to access the internet anywhere on the go via 3G internet service, but unfortunately, the iPod Touch 4 didn’t steal 3G data plans from the iPhone 4. Some might not see the value in having 3G access on the iPod Touch, but even though it doesn’t sport a phone, it’d still be nice to be able to browse the net wherever you are with the iPod Touch 4.
The Phone (Duh)
I know, I know, everyone knows that the new iPod Touch doesn’t have an internal phone or else it’d be an iPhone, but there are a bunch of wise guys on the internet that were bound to point out that the iPod Touch 4 is lacking a phone had I not listed it here. Anyone that isn’t an internet troll can feel free to ignore this subsection – everyone else can bite me.
