Lisa Kelly and Rick Yemm Transport Statues of Kali on IRT: Deadliest Roads, Season 1, Episode 5
At Shimla, Yemm awaits more news about his sick daughter back home, and gets encouraging news that his daughter will get better, even though she’s pretty sick. Lisa Kelly and Rick have to transfer statues of the Hindu goddess Kali to a remote village Kalpa. The pressure is on because there can’t be any damage to these statues (or they won’t be worshiped). The sacred items are loaded via what Yemm calls “mosh pit” style. While driving, Rick gripes about all the school kids walking haphazardly on the road.
Lisa Kelly worries about her spotter Tashi crawling around the roof of truck trying to get to the back to secure the statue on Season 1, Episode 5 of IRT: Deadliest Roads. But she stops the truck and lets him get safely back in the cab. She and Rick both get across the rickety old bridge. Both drivers head further out from the Karcham Dam site to Kalpa, where the roads are even more dangerous because of rockslides. And thus, Tashi implores Lisa to go faster, but she resists his commands. The rocks start sliding down the mountain, but nonetheless, Kelly manages to drive through it even though she gets on Tashi for being so hard on her slow driving.
Yemm soon encounters a slight rockslide, too. Later, both Yemm and Kelly arrive at the village, and their statues are unloaded. Both are undamaged, despite their fears otherwise. Lisa Kelly is dressed in traditional clothing to dance in the village ceremony.
Dave Redmon and His Spotter Have Communication Problems on IRT: Deadliest Roads, Season 1, Episode 5
Dave Redmon hauls a four ton steel duct along “The Ledge” to the Karcham Dam site. He’s frustrated over the language barrier with his spotter Sanjeev, adding to the stress of dealing with the Indian drivers and terrible road conditions. Redmon eventually encounters a traffic jam, and has to back up his truck on the crappy roads on Season 1, Episode 5 of IRT: Deadliest Roads. He pulls into the Karcham Dam site with his load, but is still getting tired of dealing with the communication challenges of his spotter, but after a little confab, the two seem to have a meeting of the minds…for now.
