Today’s episode of All My Children ended in a very shocking way. Dr. David Hayward (played by Vincent Irizarry), stumbles into Caleb Coony’s dinner party all bloodied and bruised and collapses right in front of Caleb who was in the middle of making his toast.
David had been blackmailing Greenlee for quite a while, and Ryan was determined to get to the bottom of it. Just as he was about to find the incriminating evidence that David had on her, Liza stepped into her office and ruined his plans. A few minutes later, Ryan received a call from Greenlee telling him to stop the search, that she decided to stay with David. Convinced that David had once again gotten to her, he decided to pay a visit to David in his hotel suite.
It seemed as though David was waiting for Ryan, he had an extra glass of champagne and told him that he was waiting for him to show up. Just then Ryan began to repeatedly punch Hayward square in the face. For the first time, David fought back, but to no avail.
Fast-forward to him collapsing in the middle of the party — after watching this scene I chalked it up to being just another confrontation between David and Ryan (there have been many lately). However, immediately following the episode’s end, a commercial came on which said a major star would be dying on Tuesday’s episode. I, or course headed straight to the blogs; the only information I could find was a brief paragraph on www.soaps.she knows.com, which read “Soap Opera Weekly is reporting that David Hayward does in fact bite the dust at Caleb’s party, which suggests that he, along with his portray-er Vincent Irizarry, is leaving the show.”
Will Dr. Death be no more? Will Irizarry be returning to the show? We’ll just have to keep watching the blogs to find out the next move in this crazy AMC plot twist.
