There’s an unusual situation going on over at ABC. As in, Barbara Walters’ annual “10 Most Fascinating People” list. For 2010, Walters has dug deep to find the 10 most fascinating celebs in the world. And this year it ain’t pretty.
According to ABC, Barbara Walters’ “10 Most fascinating People of 2010” list includes actress Sandra Bullock, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, basketball star LeBron James, “American idol” judge Jennifer Lopez, teen idol Justin Bieber, comedian Betty White, royal fiancé Kate Middleton and……the cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore”?
That’s right. Snooki and The Situation have made it on to the same list as a future British princess.
First of all, can Babs count? Because the “Jersey Shore” cast consists of 7 “fascinating people” right off the bat (I guess the evicted Angelina was deemed not fascinating enough or it would have been 8). But Walters has the “JS” cast lumped together in one “Fascinating Person” slot. Hmmm…that doesn’t say much for their brain power.
With most of the “Fascinating People” list leaked, the main surprise on the show will be the reveal of the number one most fascinating person of 2010. Past winners of Walters’ top spot include:
2009- Michelle Obama
2007- J.K. Rowling
2006- Nancy Pelosi
2005- Camilla Parker Bowles
2004- Karl Rove
2002- Laura Bush
Looking back at 2010, Walters’ pick for “Most Fascinating person” could be anyone from a tabloid celeb to a political figure. My personal guess is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who was immortalized in the movie “The Social Network” earlier this year and is pretty darn fascinating to begin with (any kid who makes his first million before the age of 25 is fascinating in my book).
Then again, looking back at Walters’ previous “Most Fascinating Person” picks, there’s an awful lot of politics on that list.
Barbra Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating people of 2010” will air on December 9th at 10:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
