Almost immediately after the announcement of Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo‘s engagement, Jessica Simpson is also engaged! The lucky guy is the handsome, ex NFL player Eric Johnson. Congrats to the bubbly blond singer and actress!
Simpson and Lachey were married until 2005, after both of them shared a quick rise to fame from a reality show, Newlyweds. The show documented their married life, but unfortunately brought them a divorce.
After the split, Simpson had been unlucky in love. Her relationships with singer John Mayor and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo were publicized, as well as both breakups.
However, Simpson‘s career grew from a fairly known songstress to a red, hot household name. She played Daisy Duke in 2005’s Dukes of Hazzard movie along Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott, released a few Billboard hits, and created several consumer products including a line of shoes.
By the way, Jessica Simpson shoes, especially the pumps, are both gorgeous and comfortable!
Clearly, the girl is successful all on her own! She has good looks, good acting chops and a chart-topping voice. Plus, her personality is just fun and lovable! But even the most beautiful and talented celebrity needs love.
Simpson and Johnson dated for 5 months before announcing their engagement. Johnson played for Yale before going on to play for the San Francisco 49ers and then the New Orleans Saints. But he was released and has not been back in the NFL since 2007.
You might recall reading some news earlier this year of Johnson rejecting an MBA acceptance to be close to his honey. Well, the school he rejected was the very prestigious Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania – clearly, the man is head over heels!
Also clearly, Simpson likes football players with hunky looks. Just like Simpson herself, Johnson is nice-looking in an all-American way.
The happy couple was recently in Italy celebrating Simpson‘s 30th birthday. Simpson was also spotted with a huge diamond ring on her finger – lucky girl! She’s got looks, success, and now a handsome fiancé!
I wish Simpson a long-lasting and happy marriage. I really do think she’s a sweet person, and deserves a fairytale ending. I just hope that this time around, she keeps it private by not airing everything on some TV show.
