“Jesus”-no one can be saved by any other name. (Acts 4:12) No evil, no sickness or disease can stand in the presence of that Name represents. (Philippians 2:9 & 10) Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
As a matter of fact, “Jesus”, that wonderful Name just this very moment is clearing my vision up. I’ve been having episodes lately where my vision will be pretty blurry for a day, and then the next day or two, it will be okay. This morning it was really blurry, until I wrote that Name at the top of the page.
Jesus-Jesus-Jesus…peace in the storm, provision in need, comfort in heartbreak and healer in sickness. When I think back over the times I’ve been in danger and didn’t even realize it until later; times that I did know and all I could say was “Jesus.”-My car would have gone over the edge of that trail that morning but for “Jesus.” There’s so much love in Him, in His Name.
There is a lot of power and a really profound and awe inspiring realization when you think about the fact that we have the authority to use His Name just as if it was our own. It means that not only do we have authority and power rule with that Name; but we have responsibility to also. What I mean by rule is that we are to exercise His authority and dominion here on Earth. It’s what was ours-given by God- in the Garden of Eden in the first place. (Genesis 1:27-31) It’s what Satan stole from Adam and Eve, and from us but for the Grace of God and the precious blood of Jesus. It’s what Jesus came and died for to give back to us. He said that He came to destroy the works of the devil. (John 16:24)
The Bible also tells us not to misuse the name of the LORD. (Deut.5:11) I believe this includes the Name of Jesus. When we don’t take authority in His Name and use that authority to rule over our world and the power of the enemy especially spiritually, we are giving the enemy power over us just as Adam and Eve did.
Just as Jesus gave the seventy power and authority to cast out demons in that day and gave them a commission to go out in His Name, so we as believers are commissioned to go in His Name and do the same things. (Matt. 28:18-20 and Mark 16:15-18) But really, it’s about living in the authority of Jesus’ Name. That means, not only living in the power and authority of His Name, but also doing everything to the glory and honor of His Name. (Col. 3: 17)
