How can hiding their platform be legal? Remember that back in 2004 the U.N. monitored US elections. The August 07, 2004 article “Bush invites foreigners to monitor U.S. election” describes how Bush 43 had the UN monitor his 2nd election.
The article states “When 13 Democratic members of the U.S. Congress asked United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan to send election monitors to the U.S. this fall, the move outraged many Republicans and other proponents of national sovereignty.”
After an initial rejection by Annan foreign election monitors–via the State Department, did eventually observe the U.S. elections
The article elaborated “In her letter to Powell, Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas expressed grave concerns regarding electoral system reforms that were not undertaken after the 2000 election.
Recalling the contentious Florida vote count in 2000, the lawmakers urged the U.N. to “ensure free and fair elections in America.”
“As lawmakers, we must assure the people of America that our nation will not experience the nightmare of the 2000 presidential election,” Johnson said in the letter. “This is the first step in making sure that history does not repeat itself.”
Is disseminating propaganda an offense that will allow the U.N. to monitor elections? That is what the GOP is doing now and has been doing for generations.
How can the red staters fall for the GOP line of “They are raising your taxes”-which they have been using since the days of Reagan? The truth is the fact that Obama has been saying for years now “We aren’t raising taxes on anyone making $200,000 as an individual or $250,000 as a family-which is 98% of us!
And make no mistake about it-the GOP’s entire platform will consist of some variation of “Read my lips-no more taxes”! The red staters don’t want to comprehend that without revenue from tax payers that Social Security and the entire social service network-which they depend on, will be choked off. Bush 43 gave so much of our economy to the top 2% that the rest of us are barely getting by. The article “15 Mind-Blowing Facts About Wealth And Inequality In America” illustrates that clichés can be true as it states “The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Cliché, sure, but it’s also more true than at any time since the Gilded Age.
The poor are getting poorer, wages are falling behind inflation, and social mobility is at an all-time low.”
Now we learn that thanks to W’s economic policies 1/7 of the US is in poverty.
Our country’s government likely will be negatively impacted because some bunch of crackers can’t pay attention for 10 seconds instead of 5.
The red stater darling, that Tea Party hero Christine O’Donnell is following the tactic of another Tea Party extremist Sharron Angle.
The article “Christine O’Donnell’s Website Stripped Of All Information” illustrates that weak minds think alike.
The article states “Tea party candidate Chistine O’Donnell has long history of taking outrageous stances on everything from evolution to lying to Nazis, but now that she is the GOP Senate nominee from Delaware, she may try tacking towards the middle to reach out a wider base, starting with her website. Christine2010.com, O’Donnell’s website, now resolves to nothing more than splash page asking people to donate. There is no content, contact info, or biography….
O’Donnell’s team is apparently following Nevada GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle’s lead. Immediately after she won the nomination, the Angle website was stripped to just a splash page, much like O’Donnell’s, and given an “overhaul that included softening and even deleting a number of her hard-right positions.”
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) revived pages from Internet archives and posted it online, but Angle’s campaign fired back by threatening legal action, sending a cease-and-desist letter and telling the New York Times that Reid was “breaking several laws and trying to deceive the voters.”
I thought that candidates loved any chance to deal with issues. It used to be that a politician would do anything for an interview. These Tea Partiers realize that they have such weak positions that they are convinced that hiding their positions will help them win votes. Who would want constituents that you have to lie to?
Remember that Angle had to instruct a FOX News entertainer–a part of the Tea party propaganda machine already, how to ask her questions to improve her image? Angle is famous for saying “The Press should ask the questions we want to answer” line to Carl Cameron who was lobbing her softballs at Rupert Murdoch and Roger Allies instruction. With her stances of killing Social Security, eliminating the Departments of Education and Energy and shipping nuclear waste to Nevada she is right that only a few questions can be asked.
Palin is advising Chistine O’Donnel in how to only deal with FOX. Even that won’t be enough is you believe “Turd Blossom”, the GOP operative given the chance to use FOX News to spout his right-extremism. The article “Palin Advises Christine O’Donnell To ‘Speak Through Fox News'” has the Mamma Grizzlie advising her lunatic cub Grizzlie O’Donnell.
The article states “Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appeared on the O’Reilly Factor last night to defend Delaware GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell from intra-party skeptics like former Bush advisor Karl Rove, who said Republicans aren’t “going to be able to win” the general election with O’Donnell as the nominee. Palin advised O’Donnell to ignore the “political machine” and go rogue, just as she did on the 2008 presidential campaign, breaking away from “her handlers.” “Speak through Fox News,” Palin – a paid Fox News contributor – counseled her protégé.”
These people are FOX cartoon characters just as much as another FOX show’s star Homer Simpson is.
The article states “Indeed, O’Donnell appears to be quick study of the Sarah Palin school of media dodging, telling the staff of MSNBC’s Morning Joe that she couldn’t appear because of “family” reasons, despite making the rounds on Fox, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC the same day. And as Media Matters pointed out, O’Donnell thanked “a slew of Fox-tied supporters” in her acceptance speech for the nomination.”
It is not just these nut-jobs. It is the GOP leadership also!
The GOP will fall back on their tried campaign tactic of slandering the Democrats. If they have to they will advance their platform only as a last resort. They know that any platform has to make choices and that you lose votes when you have to make tough decisions. That is why with first at 10 weeks and then a month and a half before the election Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell still doesn’t want to scoop himself on details of the GOP’s agenda.
The September 14, 2010 article “McConnell Still Doesn’t Want To ‘Scoop’ Himself On Details Of The GOP’s Agenda” describes that the GOP is still concealing their lack of vision.
The article states “For the past two years, the Republican party – suffering from a lack of any actual ideas – has generally been obstructing anything the President and Democrats in Congress want to pass. Even the “The Party of No’s” own members have noted that they lack any solutions to the problems facing the country.
Last month, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was asked what the GOP’s agenda would be going into the midterm elections, but he couldn’t offer anything up. “I won’t scoop myself,” he said. Six weeks later, McConnell is still empty handed.
Senate Republicans are working with the House GOP on the creation of a midterm election agenda for incumbents and challengers to run on in the fall campaign, but are largely deferring to their counterparts on the specifics. […]
House and Senate Republican leaders have declined to discuss the specifics of what the agenda will contain – “I’m not going to scoop ourselves,” McConnell said Monday. But the document will probably focus on job creation, improving economic growth, reducing government spending and other issues that have polled well with likely midterm election voters.
Luckily for the GOP, Crossroads GPS, the advocacy arm of Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie’s “shadow RNC” American Crossroads has come up with something. Unfortunately for the GOP, it’s just more of what they have been doing over the last 18 months. As the conservative Daily Caller noted, “instead of things they think the GOP should do, the agenda…is made up mostly of things they think Republicans should oppose or eliminate.”
For the past two years, the Republican party – suffering from a lack of any actual ideas – has generally been obstructing anything the President and Democrats in Congress want to pass. Even the “The Party of No’s” own members have noted that they lack any solutions to the problems facing the country.
The article “GOP lawmaker: Republican agenda should be kept hidden” describes that the GOP is busy hiding nothing. That what they are hiding is their platform, which is devoid of ideas, makes this concealment damning.
The article states “In laying out his case for why the GOP should have a minimal platform for the November elections, a New York Republican has given ammunition to critics who say the party knows its policies wouldn’t be popular if they were put under the microscope.
Rep. Peter King (R-NY) told a radio show Thursday that the GOP should focus on its strategy of being against President Barack Obama’s policies, but shouldn’t give too many specifics on its own policies — or those policies could be used against them.”
The article “DNC Launches Preemptive Branding Campaign of GOP” describes that Democrats have to attack these fools.
The vacuum that is the GOP’s ideas for the US had to be filled in by something. The article states “Continuing their midterms ramp up, the Democratic National Committee launched a preemptive attack against the GOP this morning by attempting to define the proposed Republican governing agenda before Republicans are even done drawing one up. At 11 am, DNC Chair Tim Kaine and vice chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) announced the release of a 10-point “Republican Tea Party Contract on America,” a major initiative that argues the Tea Party and Republican agenda have become one and the same.
The contract runs down an agenda of the Democrats’ boogeymen: repealing Health Insurance Reform, privatizing Social Security, extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, protecting “those responsible for the oil spill,” and abolishing the Department of Education, Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency.”
The article “Poll Suggests Opportunities for Both Parties” indicates how the Democrats should attack the GOP!
The article states “A case for Democrats: They are seen as having better ideas for solving the country’s problems. The public steadfastly supports the president’s proposal to let tax cuts expire for the wealthiest Americans. And far more people still blame Wall Street and the Bush administration than blame Mr. Obama for the country’s economic problems.”
What hatred the GOP leaders must have for themselves and for their constituents. These poor red staters for generations have been lured into voting for ghouls who appeal to their baser instincts by hate and fear mongering. They vote against their own self interests. Why?
