Is it just me or is Justin Bieber sending the wrong message to his fans? With a new romantic video for his song “U Smile”, the teen singer implies that he could, and would, fall in love with any of his fans. Isn’t that going to send the masses of teenage girls into a feeding frenzy? Is it really a good idea to mix business with pleasure for someone so young?
The kid is sixteen, but he looks like he’s twelve. I keep waiting for the day when Bieber’s voice changes – won’t that be a shock to “Bieber Fever”? Watching him throw his head of hair around at the MTV Video Music Awards made me wonder if I would have been into that kind of thing when I was a teen. Although, you don’t have to be young to enjoy his persona – just ask Kim Kardashian! But, I can’t imagine what parents must think of their childrens’ obsession with this boy. And, now there is a toy doll in his likeness? What are teenage girls going to do with that? I recently read that when his mother was first approached by the music industry, she prayed for a Christian label to come along. Hmmm…I think something happened on the road to fame.
And, it happened to Miley Cyrus, too. Now seventeen, the starlet has been in serious relationships for most of her short teen life. My parents would never have let me gallavant around the world, alone with a boy, at that age. And, what kind of message does her recent video for “Can’t Be Tamed” send to fans? Is that supposed to be a challenge? Because, that’s how some guys will look at it. And, young girls will believe that the image that’s portrayed by the singer is the new cool. Is that what we want our future women to become…wild and ‘untamed’?
I just don’t understand what’s happening with today’s kids. They are becoming stars at a young age, and setting the wrong example for their fans. Their parents aren’t reeling it in, either. I didn’t see Billy Ray Cyrus taking control of Miley’s new, sexy image. She’s seventeen! Shouldn’t somebody be guiding her? Even Jessica Simpson waited until she was well into her twenties before her sultry side came out. And, guess what? Her parents were with her all along her path to stardom. Somebody tell me that I’m not the only adult cringing as the new generation reveals itself.
