Justin Bieber threw two water balloons at state troopers at a concert he was performing in Maryland, as reported at MTV. However, no action was taken against Bieber, a 16-year-old singer who’s My World 2.0 topped the US Billboard 200. According to MSN, a bodyguard convinced the troopers not to arrest Bieber.
Don’t try this at home?
Justin Bieber’s actions were “inappropriate behavior” according to a police spokesperson. However, the teen sensation is only 16 years old. Can we expect mature behavior, 24/7, from a 16-year-old? Most likely not. And kids love to throw water balloons.
“Still laughing. GREAT DAY,” tweeted Bieber about the incident. But If Justin Bieber threw water balloons at state troopers, should he not be punished for it? If you throw water balloons at state troopers, you can bet that if you’re caught, you’ll be punished for it.
But Justin Bieber isn’t you. Justin Bieber is one of the most famous teens in the world, so famous that his fan base allegedly occupies 3% of the mega social network Twitter’s traffic. Justin Bieber threw the water balloons at the state troopers before his sold out Maryland concert. What would have happened if Bieber had been arrested and his concert canceled? Did Maryland really want to deal with a bunch of rioting teenagers?
Is the avoidance of a safety hazard more important than fairness?
Justin Bieber, who is preparing to perform at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, had at least 1,000 fans lined up to see him, as early as 7:15 a.m., outside the Maryland fairground. In addition, the 12,500 tickets available to see Bieber sold out in 20 minutes. You can be sure that if Justin Bieber’s concert was canceled, due to the water balloons incident, there would have been trouble. What if people had gotten hurt? Bieber mania is so strong, that possibly would have been highly likely.
Is it better to be safe, literally, than sorry? Paris Hilton was released from jail earlier than others would be because she’s a famous star. According to the officer in charge, it was necessary to get her booked and processed quickly to avoid disruptions and to maintain safety. If fans think it is unfair when celebrities get the star treatment when it comes to the law, before we complain, shouldn’t we weigh the pros and cons first?
