Looking to jump back into the spotlight, Kanye West recently announced his big music release plans slated to occur over the next few months.
Taking to his beloved Twitter page on Sunday (August 22), the “Stronger” singer wrote, “I know y’all need the music so I’m dropping 1 new song every weekend until Xmas. It may be my song, it may be a new Jay song, etc.”
Furthermore, West told, “y’all know every Friday y’all gone have a new joint from our family. We look at the game completely different now … It’s about the fans. No more holding back. That’s why I dropped ‘See Me Now’ … it wasn’t about me, it was about the Summer the BBQs etc.”
And coming up on September 12, Kanye will be performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Such a highly publicized event makes complete sense after West just recently released a new video for his debut single “Power” while also planning to drop his fifth studio effort this fall.
The hip hop star’s latest offering was directed by artist Marco Brambilla in hopes of producing a video like none other.
Talking to MTV News, Brambilla said, “I instantly connected to the themes on the album. The whole idea of celebrity, the idea of power, the idea of sensuality in it, there’s sexuality in it as well, and those were all kind of themes that I’ve explored in my work before. Once I heard the album, that was what clinched it, and I felt very much in tune with the message behind the music.”
Marco continued, “I’ve always wanted to do something that would visualize power, to do a portrait of what power would look like in a sort of timeless way and being able to have him framed in that portrait. Essentially doing a video portrait of Kanye as a symbol of power was very consistent with my art practice and what I explore in my artwork.”
The stylized creation that is “Power” features model Irina Shayk in addition to West himself.
