A new reality competition show is coming to the Bravo network. The new show will be a singer-songwriter competition entitled Platinum Hit. Head judge for the competition will be former American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi, who is also a very successful songwriter herself. Songstress Jewel will be hosting Platinum Hit and will also be giving her own feedback to the contestants as well.
The series will span 10 episodes and will follow 12 aspiring musicians as they compete in songwriting challenges. The challenges will contain a variety of musical genres, and the contestants will be asked to write and perform songs within these themes each week.
The show not only will include the songwriters competing against each other each week, but will also feature the personal drama that unfolds throughout the season as they live together during the competition.
Unlike other talent competition shows of this nature, the viewing public will not be able to call in and vote for their favorite competitor to stick around from week to week. The judges will be the only ones who will determine which musician stays and which musician goes home. Along with head judge Kara DioGuardi, current recording artists will be enlisted as guest judges throughout the series to help determine the champion.
The lucky winner of Platinum Hit will be awarded with a nice prize package. He or she will take home a cash prize of $100,000, a publishing deal with Sony, BMI Songwriters The Write Camp, and a recording deal with RCA/Jive Records.
Platinum Hit will premiere on Bravo on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
