Rumors are spreading that Kate Gosselin’s 15 minutes of fame may soon be coming to an end. Her TLC show “Kate Plus 8” has been dropping in ratings and her new show “Twist of Kate” isn’t even listed on TLC’s website.
Has the public finally shown that they have had enough of Kate? One can only hope so.
Her stint on last season’s “Dancing With the Stars” was pitiful and although edited, her rehearsal scenes showed the prima donna Kate we only used to see when she and her pathetic ex-husband Jon were together.
The sad part is that for all the money that Kate Gosselin has made off of her eight children, how much of it is actually there to help support these reality show victims? Kate has been living the high life, traveling the country, getting her hair extended, designer clothing and hobnobbing with celebrities.
The ratings for “Kate Plus 8” show that Moms no longer identify with this Mom of multiples. Because of the public’s prior fascination with her and her family, she has been given opportunities that regular suburban moms will never have. Travelling with a personal bodyguard and multiple nannies does not make you relate well to a working mom in Middle America who is trying to juggle it all.
The ugliness between Kate and Jon during their breakup and divorce was hard to avoid. The media gave each one an outlet to bash the other and no one cared about the children, least of all their own Mom and Dad. Maybe all the ugliness of her vocal attacks on her ex is finally catching up to Kate.
Jon is sitting somewhere amused at how Kate may eventually need to get a “real” job. Chances are good that if TLC cancels her show, her new venture will disappear as well. Kate Gosselin took her 15 minutes and ran with it, leaving her children with nannies.
She might have had some sympathy in the beginning when she defended herself by saying that she is a working mom like any other working mom. When she started spending too much time on her appearance, getting hair extensions and dressing like a 20 year old, she started to lose her appeal to the few diehard fans that she had left. It became obvious to all that the children’s best interests were not what Kate was thinking about. Kate was thinking about Kate.
Perhaps seeing her face splashed on the front of magazines along with real stars went to her head. Maybe she started to believe that she was deserving of the celebrity status she had been given. Even though some people seem to become famous for nothing, eventually their “celebrity” fades away once the public gets bored of them.
Hopefully Kate Gosselin saved some of the money she earned by exposing her childrens lives on reality television. It looks like she is going to need an income.
